Before Pinterest, there was the rap song. To most, both are a fantastical way for conspicuous consumers to catalogue how they’d spend their time and money. However, while Pinterest and hip-hop share a relentless (and at times numbing) love of materialism, they’re also equally capable of communicating far more than just brand names.

Pinterest Rap is how I would imagine Nicki Minaj, 2 Chainz and the Throne (Jay-Z and Kanye West) would use Pinterest, if they did. My biggest inspirations were KanyeUniverseCity, Tavi Gevinson, and Carroll Street Café’s $5 martini special.
