Unpublishable: Censored Emails From Noam Chomsky

Unpublishable is a new series that seeks to publish writing & art that’s been rejected. For the first installment, I’m offering my Censored Emails From Noam Chomsky. This erasure poem is based on my correspondence with Chomsky in the weeks after the Trump election. I had interviewed him when I was 23 for a piece that ended up never being published – and I had remembered how patient and kind he was with me. I was surprised he answered me at all, let alone remembered me. He was my first big interview. This piece received very nice rejections from BOMB and Diagram, and then I just let it sit there to waste away until now.
