When I first heard DJ/rupture’s Minesweeper Suite with its brutal combination of club hip-hop, breakcore and obscure international gems, it opened a lot of new areas for sonic investigation. But lately, I’ve been enjoying podcasting Rupture’s weekly radio show on legendary New Jersey station WFMU. Last week’s show featured cumbia, doom metal, ambient, Outkast and Scandinavian rock. It’s a heady reminder of the full range of what sound can do. -Ben Bush
