from THANK YOU TERROR

We have no scars.
Born bird we
bet in blood.

Tubes run into me
but no tubes
run out of me.

This chaos in me,
would I could
dispel it. But it’s what

I have a necklace
could fit around,
one hiss to light.

Instead of a heart
I have a Nintendo.
And where others

have a Nintendo I have
a snake split in half
& turned inside out.

I was born there
& baptized in stone
the snake swallowed.

from THANK YOU TERROR

There is no one
sitting beside you.
Then there is.

Is it normal
to become a child?

Should I set this candle
beneath the bed?

I don’t dare shut
the fifth window,
the zeros.

Rebuke the sea,
the red squiggly line
beneath the bone heap.

I said goodnight.
I meant night.
